Let's Talk Theraplay®

This workshop will provide a brief experiential introduction to the Theraplay® play therapy model. Theraplay® is a treatment for enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement. It is based on the natural patterns of healthy interaction between parent and child and is personal, physical, and fun!
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- identify an overview of neurodiversity, the neurodiversity paradigm, and neurodivergence to aid with their neurodivergent play therapy clients.
- describe the AutPlay framework as it applies to play therapy goal planning and implementation.
- demonstrate 3 play therapy interventions which are neurodiversity affirming.

About our presenter: Kerri Garner, LPC is a Theraplay® Trainer and Supervisor. She specializes in the use of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, EMDR, and structural dissociation along with Theraplay in her work with children of all ages and their families. An adoptive mother herself, Kerri is passionate about bringing children and their caregivers into closer healing relationships with each other. Kerri has been working in the mental health field since 1998. She has practiced in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Nairobi, Kenya in a variety of settings including outpatient community mental health and children’s homes. Currently she has a private practice in Phoenix, AZ.

AZAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to Play Therapy. APT Approved Provider 97-035. AZAPT maintains responsibility for the program. Registrants understand and agree that any photograph, video or audio recording of themselves may be used to further promote AZAPT.
Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be requested in writing and received no later than May 1, 2025. Cancellations are subject to a $20 processing fee. Substitutions (someone else attending) or transfer of registration to another training date may be requested. No refunds after May 1, 2025.
