National Play Therapy Week 2022

Stepping into the Multiverse: Understanding Neurodiversity in Play Therapy presented by Robert Jason Grant, EdD, LPC, RPT-S, ACAS

This workshop will introduce participants to the concepts of neurodiversity and implementing neurodiversity affirming practices in play therapy. An understanding of neurodivergent clients such as autistic, ADHD, SPD, and learning disorders will be presented. How play therapy approaches can be affirming will be covered and several neurodiversity affirming play therapy interventions will be highlighted.

Learning Objectives: 

Participants will be able to:

1. Identify the concepts of neurodiversity and neurodiversity affirming regarding play therapy work.

2. Describe how play therapy theories/approaches can be neurodiversity affirming.

3. List at least 5 play therapy interventions that are considered neurodiversity affirming.

3 APT Non Contact CEs - Play Therapy Special Topics

About our presenter: Dr. Grant specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families, including working with autistic children, neurodivergence children, and those diagnosed with ADHD and other developmental disorders. He is the creator of AutPlay® Therapy, an integrative family play therapy approach. He is currently serving on the board of directors (president) for the Association for Play Therapy. He is also a part-time instructor in the Play Therapy Certificate program at Mid America Nazarene University (MNU).

VIRTUAL: This will be a virtual session. Participants will be awarded APT NON-CONTACT CE upon successful completion of a post test.

AZAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to Play Therapy. APT Approved Provider 97-035. AZAPT maintains responsibility for the program. Registrants understand and agree that any photograph (screen shot), video or audio recording of themselves may be used to further promote AZAPT.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be requested in writing and received no later than January 11, 2022. Cancellations are subject to a $15 processing fee. Substitutions (someone else attending) or transfer of registration to another training date may be requested. No refunds or partial refunds will be considered after January 11, 2022.
