Play Therapy Week 2021
Sensory Processing and Self Regulation in Play Therapy
Presented by Kim Vander Dussen, Psy.D., RPT-S
Understanding the sensory systems and how their function and dysfunction impact children in play therapy is a crucial competency to develop. In this workshop participants will be exposed to play therapy interventions designed to teach them about their own sensory profile and that of children in play therapy while learning how to use sensory experiences to facilitate co-regulation.
Participants will be able to:
1. identify the 8 sensory systems.
2. describe interoception and its relationship to symptoms present in children in play therapy.
3. identify and describe at least 5 sensory based play therapy interventions.
