Play Therapy Week 2021

Play Therapy with Sexually Abused Children and Adolescents

Presented by Sharolyn Wallace, PhD, LCSW, RPT-S, IMH-E® 

This workshop will provide participants with core play therapy fundamentals for working with children and adolescents who have experienced sexual abuse. Experiential, theoretically sound play therapy methodologies will be presented, discussed, and practiced during the workshop. Participants can expect play therapy techniques covering CBT, Gestalt, and Adlerian methodologies.

Learning Objectives: 

Participants will be able to:

1. Discuss the core fundamentals in addressing sexual abuse in play therapy.

2. Analyze CBT, Gestalt, and Adlerian play therapy methodologies within this population.

3. Design play therapy treatment objectives with interventions for children and adolescents that have experienced sexual abuse.

About our presenter: 

Sharolyn Wallace PhD, LCSW, RPT-S, IMH-E® has worked with children and families for over 30 years. She has served on the APT Board of Directors and OKAPT. Dr. Wallace has authored six children’s books and APT magazine articles. She is the Professor of Human Services at Tulsa Community College and Faculty Director for the Center for Addiction Prevention and Recovery Support.

VIRTUAL: This will be a virtual meeting so participants can see each other. Participants will be awarded NON-CONTACT CE upon successful completion of a post test.

AZAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to Play Therapy. APT Approved Provider 97-035. AZAPT maintains responsibility for the program. Registrants understand and agree that any photograph (screen shot), video or audio recording of themselves may be used to further promote AZAPT.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be requested in writing and received no later than January 11, 2021. Cancellations are subject to a $15 processing fee. Substitutions (someone else attending) or transfer of registration to another training date may be requested. No refunds or partial refunds will be considered after January 11, 2021.
