Lunch & Learn - Bibliotherapy: A Play-Based Approach

This presentation will explore the use of bibliotherapy for play therapy services.  Specific topics of play therapy interest will be explored and play therapy activities will be presented. Explore the wonderful world of books for working with children in the play therapy room.

Learning Objectives: 

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the use and purpose of bibliotherapy in play therapy sessions
  2. Compile a list of useful books for the use of play therapy and bibliotherapy
  3. Analyze play therapy books related to trauma, self-esteem, foster care, and several others
  4. Apply at least one play therapy technique for each book explored

About our presenter: Juliet Fortino, MC, LPC, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor works with children and Families involved with Department of child Safety and the various child mental health agencies in the Tucson community in a private practice setting. She has 23 years experience working with child trauma, abuse, attachment, and play therapy. She currently uses play therapy in individual and family therapy to help children heal from their previous traumas. She has extensive experience working with children of all ages, including the 0-5 age group. She speaks locally and nationally on a variety of topics.

VIRTUAL: This will be a virtual meeting so participants can see each other. Participants will be awarded CONTACT CE upon successful completion of a post test. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for 2 CONTACT CE Hours.

AZAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to Play Therapy. APT Approved Provider 97-035. AZAPT maintains responsibility for the program. Registrants understand and agree that any photograph, video or audio recording of themselves may be used to further promote AZAPT.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be requested in writing and received no later than September 11, 2020. Cancellations are subject to a $15 processing fee. Substitutions (someone else attending) or transfer of registration to another training date may be requested.
