Play Therapy with the Sexually Acting Out Child

This training will explore a basic understanding of working with a child who has sexualized behaviors. Information will be provided to assist with understanding typical sexual development and when to worry about these behaviors. Practical activities will be provided to assist you in working with children who have sexualized behaviors. Come find out more information about this highly specialized population.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify age appropriate sexual exploration in comparison to the child with sexual behavior problems.
- Identify play behaviors that represent the child who sexually acts out.
- Differentiate between a sexually reactive child and a juvenile sex offender.
- Put into practice at least 5 play therapy techniques for use with a child with sexual behavior problems.

Creative Play Therapy Interventions for Teens and Tweens

Working with a troubled teen or tween can be a challenge! Are they too old to play or is it just a matter of knowing how to engage them?? Twelve (12) Creative Play Therapy Interventions for working with some of the most common challenges for troubled teens and tweens will be explored. Come prepared to play!
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss four common challenges facing teens and tweens.
- Utilize one appropriate creative play therapy intervention for each challenge discussed facing teens and tweens.
- Demonstrate at least four creative play therapy interventions for teens and tweens.

About our presenter: Juliet Fortino MC, LPC, RPT-S works with Children and Families involved with CPS and the various child mental health agencies in the Tucson community in a private practice setting. She has 17 years experience working with child trauma, abuse, attachment, and play therapy. Juliet is the current president of the Arizona Association for Play Therapy. Her practice is in Tucson.
