Trauma-Focused Therpay - Stages and Strategies

Presented by Shefali Ghandi, Psy.D.

This workshop will focus on presenting a model of integrated trauma-focused work when working with chronically traumatized children. The workshop will present a model that uses play therapy strategies and techniques as the mode of delivery in each stage of treatment to help children. The workshop will provide play therapy strategies to use in each stage and will allow participants to create a toolbox of healing strategies.

FIVE LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Participants will:

  • Learn about the theoretical underpinnings of trauma focused work
  • Learn about the stages of trauma treatment
  • Develop an understanding of the needs of each child during treatment
  • Develop a tool box of play therapy strategies for traumatized children
  • Learn how to assess the impact of the play therapy strategy on the child so as to improve treatment assessment and planning

About our presenterShefali Gandhi is a Licensed Psychologist in a private counseling and consultation practice. Her credentials include a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University and she is licensed by the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners. Dr. Gandhi teaches as a professor of practice at Argosy University/Phoenix Campus in the School Psychology, Sports Psychology, and Counseling Psychology Departments. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Arizona Psychological Association, American Play Therapy Association, Arizona Association for Play Therapy, and National Association of School Psychologists.
