National Play Therapy Week 2022

Game On! Using and Creating Games in Play Therapy presented by Laura Hutchison, PsyD, RPT-S

Participants will learn different ways to use games in play therapy and gain an  understanding about what clients can gain through game play. A majority of the workshop will be spent learning about different games through demonstration and active participation. We will also discuss what populations and diagnoses the games work best with. Additionally, participants will create their own simple board game which will be able to be used in play therapy. 

Learning Objectives: 

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify 20 games to use in play therapy.
  2. Explain what things are learned through game play in play therapy.
  3. Create a simple board game for use in the play therapy setting

About our presenter: Dr. Laura Hutchison, is a fully licensed psychologist, specializing in helping children and their families. Being a fully licensed psychologist and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT/S), she also supervises clinicians and is the founder/director of the Michigan Play Therapy Training Academy that provides high quality affordable play therapy training for clinicians. She is the current Michigan Association for Play Therapy (MIAPT) and has active in the organization for over 20 years. Dr. HutcH, as some call her, received her Master’s and Doctorate from the Center for Humanistic Studies - which is now called the Michigan School of Psychology (MSP). Along with being a therapist, she is the proud mom to son, Henry, and daughter, Honor. You may also know Dr. H as "PlayDrMom" through her blog and social media sites that focus on her experience being a play therapist and mom..  

VIRTUAL: This will be a virtual session. Participants will be awarded APT NON-CONTACT CE upon successful completion of a post test.

AZAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to Play Therapy. APT Approved Provider 97-035. AZAPT maintains responsibility for the program. Registrants understand and agree that any photograph (screen shot), video or audio recording of themselves may be used to further promote AZAPT.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be requested in writing and received no later than January 11, 2022. Cancellations are subject to a $15 processing fee. Substitutions (someone else attending) or transfer of registration to another training date may be requested. No refunds or partial refunds will be considered after January 11, 2022.
